Mrs Fletcher, widow, 20 Brunswick Street, Stonegravels, Chesterfield, received news from the War Office on Sunday morning that her youngest son, Corporal Maurice Fletcher, Yorks and Lancs was missing. Twenty five years of age, he is unmarried, and enlisted on the outbreak of war. He worked at Hadfield’s, Sheffield, and in his last letter home he told his mother not to worry, as it would be a long time before she heard from him again. On Tuesday, Mrs Fletcher received official news that her son was killed in action on July 3rd.
